For the love of vintage........

I'm certain that I have a love for all things "quilty vintage" because of my grandmother. She was a knitter, a crocheter and a master quilter. She's been gone for a long time and of course, now that I'm older, I have so many questions for her!  I have a collection of 30's reproduction fabric and have started to remake a quilt I originally made about 12 years ago when I first started quilting.

My new quilt is made with 3.5 inch squares.

The original quilt(below)was made with 2.5 inch squares and gratefully, my sewing skills have improved!
Mr. White Socks says hi!

My grandmother made these Scotties for my sister in the early 1950's.
They are sewn completely by hand.
My grandmother's.
And I've copied her dogs several times.
Mine
These blocks are from my original quilt and I still have some of the fabrics. I'm using them in my grandmother's flower garden quilt.

Here's hoping that spring is just around the corner, especially for those of you who've been buried under snow drifts!

As ever, I'm so happy you stopped by.

Deborah xoxo

There's so much lovely eye candy in this post. It's fun that you're doing a remake of an older quilt. Those scotties are so cute, how wonderful you have some that your grandmother made. Tulips are such a perfect sign that spring is on it's way!

Both quilts are so beautiful - and it is fun to see that the Scotties are so well preserved
despite their age. Says a lot about handmade........ :-)
We are not buried in snow yet but we have a beautiful landscape outside now - and it is all in white.

Such lovely patchworks, Deborah! I loved seeing the makes in this post. Your quilt, both the old and new version is a lovely pattern, perfect to use with nostalgic vintage prints, and I love the scotties your grandmother made, and that she was a quilter too. Very pretty hexies, they will make such a lovely grandmother's garden!
Happy weekend.

I too love the vintage look and yet I have very few vintage style fabrics. Maybe I need to correct that and buy some more fabric. haha. So very special to have a quilting heritage to treasure. BTW I can't post comments from Bloglovin to your blog. Maybe I mentioned this before. Can't remember. Makes me wonder if it works for my blog.

We all have questions we wished we'd asked our grandmothers when we had the chance. Say hello to Mr. White Socks. *smile*

Beautiful fabrics and blocks! Love them! This is going to a beautiful quilt! I would have a lot of questions for my grandmothers if they were still here, too.

Mr. White Socks is very good at displaying your beautiful quilts. :) I would definitely say that your grandma's talents trickled down to you. Those quilted Scottie dogs were the big thing back in the 80s. Teddy bears, too. I love that she hand sewed them and you still have them after all these years. Best wishes, Tammy
