Ginger from Five Monkey Fabrics has offered this amazing set of 13 fat quarters of Gabbie by Maude Asbury from Blend Fabrics. This fabric line is a lovely combination of pattern and color.

I first found Ginger's Etsy shop when I was searching for a particular fabric. She not only had the fabric I wanted but at a great price. And her delivery was speedy! Keep your eyes open for her secret sales on Facebook!

I like to keep giveaways uncomplicated but I'd like to give you a few opportunities to increase your chances of having this fabric arrive on your here goes!

Pineapple Blossom Quilt

I finished quilting my Gypsy Girl quilt yesterday and was ready to bind it this morning. While reading blogs with my morning coffee I saw this machine binding tutorial by Mary. I was so ready to be done with this quilt that machine binding sounded like a perfect option. I definitely need more practice before I show you any close up shots but I was happy with the outcome. I highly recommend trying Mary's technique! I think I'll practice on a mug rug or two!

Pattern found here.
Another fun project from this past week was a pouch I made from a "deconstructed" Cath Kidston tea towel. I always threaten to cut up tea towels for their fabric, but this time I really did!

I removed the tags and unstitched the hem.

I even recycled the tag! I hope that isn't a violation of any copyright laws. :o)

I have some lovely fabric from Clare that I could have used but I can't bear to cut into it. Do we all have fabric that feels too precious to use?  I just need a little more time with it......

Next week Five Monkey Fabrics will be sponsoring a giveaway here so I hope to see you then!

Gypsy Girl WiP & a Small Finish

This blue pitcher has survived many generations in our family. It's very special to me.
I had great plans to move full speed ahead this past week to finish some sewing projects but ended up falling a bit short. My goals are usually low pressure. I work hard at not letting my love of sewing turn into something that causes me anxiety. Many of us know how easy it is to let that happen. So I'm satisfied that I finished my Gypsy Girl pillow and quilt top. I used 2.5 inch squares from the leftover jelly roll strips and a few added scrap squares for the pillow.

I used Quiltville's Pineapple Blossom pattern and a jelly roll for the quilt. It worked perfectly. The top is 49x62 without a border.
I'm hoping this will be finished for my next post. Mr. White Socks is eager to say hi.
I used the same pattern for this quilt. Choice of fabric can certainly change the entire look of a quilt using the same pattern.

I've been working on some "experimental" blocks for a low volume quilt. I have about 6 blocks finished and I think I just might like it.

* My friend Jess has asked that I share news about the Tassie Bush Fire Quilt Appeal. She says: "As some of you may be aware, my home state of Tasmania has been devastated by some huge bushfires in the last week. Many, many homes have been completely destroyed and families have lost everything. The latest report is that about 200 homes have been either destroyed or severely damaged in the bushfires."
There may be a way that you can help. Please read here.

Congratulations to Diane. She was the randomly chosen winner of last week's giveaway!

A Little Something Noteworthy & Giveaway.

The giveaway is now closed.

I started blogging a year ago and thought this would be the perfect time for a celebratory giveaway!

Table runner made with Noteworthy fabric
Cushion made with Noteworthy fabric.....border Heather Bailey Nicey Jane
One of my favorite purchases of 2012 was a charm pack tumbler template that I bought from Cheryl at Brazosbottomquilts on Etsy. I just finished a tumbler table runner and a pillow from a charm pack of Noteworthy using the template. What a breeze to use and so little waste!  Cheryl has generously offered to send the winner of the giveaway their own template! Thank-you, Cheryl!!

I used Aurifil 50 wt thread for piecing and for the first time tried a 28 wt variegated thread for the straight line quilting on the pillow. The 28 wt shows up very nicely. One of the many features of Aurifil thread is that it is virtually lint free! And a spool lasts a long time.

BTW: Noteworthy just arrived at Fat Quarter Shop.
Aurifil recently sent me a package of thread goodies to share so I'm adding some to the giveaway package!

And lastly, as part of the giveaway....a Charm pack of Gypsy Girl! I'm working on a quilt from a jelly roll of Gypsy Girl. It's such a cheerful fabric line.

The giveaway is open to all including international friends! Leave a comment to enter. If you are a follower, feel free to leave an extra comment. The giveaway will close Monday, January 14th.

Thanks so much for stopping by. See you soon. xx
