I know. I've been stuck on a pillow making theme. But it's fun and calorie free! My hexagon pillow is 16 inches x 30 inches and made with a charm pack of Salt Air by Cosmo Cricket. I wanted a pillow I can lean on while reading. And I wanted to try out a new template.
This is the acrylic template I used to cut the hexagons. It works with five inch squares. You can see how the half pieces of hexagon are cut and then pieced in a linear manner. The template works with jelly rolls, too! I've seen this process of making hexagons before and I like how easily larger blocks go together quickly.
The crocheted shawl in the background was made by a lovely friend, Barbina. I don't think she knew when she made this that one of my favorite colors is persimmon red. My little front room where I hibernate is painted the same color as the shawl. I have the shawl draped across a chair where I can admire it.
And so I leave you with a burst of color and a bit of chaos. I enjoy seeing the pillows jumbled together. I'm not worried that the House Beautiful police will be visiting any time soon!

You just can't have too many pillows, in my opinion! That photo is going straight to my Pinner...love it!
Your pillows look gorgeous jumbled together! This has to be the best way to make hexies :)
What beautiful pillow! I love the colors and the pattern. And, that shawl is really pretty too. What a great color! I recognize the pattern...I've made several of those.
Your pillow is beautiful! I've always wanted to try that method with the "half hexies." Your post makes it look do-able, I think I'll need to finally try it. My acrylic hexagon is for a full hexie (not a half) but I'm thinking I could still use it? I'll have to give it a try (not sure about seam allowances).
Beautiful, colorful, wonderful. My favorite colors. Guess I'll be buying a new ruler!

I am loving your pillows all cozy and colourful together on your sofa - definitely looks like a fun and joyful space! Awesome half-hexie template - I wouldn't mind having a go with one of those, it sure produces some pretty hexies!
Great pillow! The length and shape of it make it look a little like a wrapped piece of candy and with "Salt Water", it reminds of taffy. In a good way of course. :-)
