Ruby Quilt & Giveaway!

Vintage Modern Wallhanging

I have a thing for Bonnie and Camille fabric. I'm just one of their many fans. I'll venture a guess that when their new line Marmalade is available, it will fly off its bolts and I'll be first in line. The above Vintage Modern wallhanging/table topper was a swap I sent to my friend Leanne.

I'm happy to say that I've made progress on my Ruby quilt. I'm going to add a few more rows....just enough to cover the white socks....and then add a border. Quilting style is still undecided.

And changing things up a bit, I'm co-hosting a Crochet Along with Corey of Little Miss Shabby and Cindy of Live a Colorful Life. The Fusion Blanket Crochet Along was inspired by Corey's love of this luscious blanket. The love is contagious!

Lace Zippers

Cindy and I got some lace zippers not too long ago. I'd never sewn with one before but I found a helpful pdf tutorial. I adapted the body size of the pouch but the rest is the same as the tutorial pouch. I've never thought of myself as a "pink" person but it seems to be the color popping up in many of my projects these days! The fabric is Happy Mochi Yum Yum (again) which I never seem to grow tired of. And now I'm in love all over again with Winterkist!

Sneaky Fiesta Ware!

I really wanted to be further along with my Ruby quilt. 

Unfortunately, I pulled a muscle in my back and it's been difficult sitting for long at my sewing machine or traveling in a car. The saddest part of this whole injury episode was having to miss a mini-retreat with Cindy and other friends! :o(

I'm on the mend and expect it to be a great week! I hope you have a great week, too!

Playing with Glue and Flea Market Fancy

I'm participating in the great Frame Purse Swap which started over here. Or maybe it actually started here! Even though I made a few of these coin purses as Christmas presents last year I know I can use a tad(!)more practice before I make my swap purse. So I brought out my leftover frames. I used Moda Bakeshop's Pretty Little Framed Purses tutorial. I struggled with the hinge and fabric intersections. Also,the glue is very fiddly. But I'm confident(sort of)that everything will work out.

And while I had the FMF out, I decided to try my hand at making key fobs. I've been so taken with these especially after spotting them on a favorite blog. They are easy to make and lots of fun.

Whoops!

This is the first 1/3 of my Ruby quilt. One of the most difficult tasks (for me) in the quilting process is to evenly space blocks  so that similar colors and patterns aren't clumped together. I'd actually rather baste a quilt than fuss too much over this process. 

But, with good intentions I developed a plan by which I carefully stacked, counted and placed blocks on my working space (kitchen table) so that my layout would be perfect! 

I wish I had a before picture. This is what my layout looked like after Mr. White Socks turned on the overhead fan!

Bless his heart! I guess the lesson is that perfection is bound to be thwarted! Or ..... don't cry over spilled milk.  And when it comes fresh from the dryer all will be well!

In May I participated in a one on one swap with the wonderful Leanne of Lizzie the Quilter.  She sent me the most delightful gifts! Isn't this an adorable mini quilt and aren't these sweet mug rugs? 

And she also sent tea bags,  lovely fabric and a tea towel. How wonderfully generous! She knows how fond I am of tea towels!
