These festive flower brooches are fun to make and look more complicated than they are! I used this tutorial. If you decide to make these, I recommend having a glue gun handy. I preferred using that over fabric glue. I seem to get a better hold. Yes! I like lots of marshmallows with my hot chocolate!
I used a flower to dress up a zippered pouch gift. Two gifts in one!
On another subject, a few readers asked what pattern I used for this quilt. The quilt is made with alternating Puss in the Corner Blocks. The following isn't meant to be a tutorial but more of a visual of how the blocks are pieced.
Alternate the solid and print fabric.

I love those flowers, they do look complicated and impressive! I like the neat shapes of the petals! The pouch is gorgeous, love that fabric. Your quilt is lovely and fresh looking, and the kind of patchwork I like to do too.

The flowers you made are beautiful! I love your quilt too and the colors you used. I like a lot of marshmallows too. My daughter had a hot chocolate buffet and one of my favorite add ins was a chocolate dipped candy cane. It melted and gave the chocolate a little bit of minty flavor :)
Great flowers, Deborah! I love it with the zippered pouch. Lucky recipients! Thanks for linking up with TGIFF!
hey those flowers are so cool!!
and i LOVE that quilt, what wonderful colors!
I love blocks that alternate like that. And the colors are very pretty together. Did you read Barbars Brackmans 'material cultures' the other day. She talks all about white background quilts. Very interesting how things change over time = even choice in backgrounds. cheers, Claire W.
Your flower brooches look amazing!
I'm over from Sew Many Ways. I love your flowers. Thanks for the tutorial link. I've just posted about the flowers that I made which are similar to these but smaller and just require folding. Guess I'll have to make some like yours to add to my collection. I'm your newest follower. I love the quilt too by the way. So pretty and cheerful.
