Cindy gave me a scrap of fish fabric that I just adore. A scrap of yummy fabric is often worth more than
yardage! I incorporated it with stash fabric into this mini-quilt. The more I see mini - quilts, the more I appreciate them. The more I make mini-quilts, the more I like making them. My husband pointed out that where there is joy and gratification in making a large quilt, it takes longer to get there. And he has noticed that I beam with equivalent joy when I finish a mini. Smart man!

I'm taking a weekend trip to visit my sister near San Francisco. She has a lovely Tea Shop just down the street where we often go. This time we have reservations for a special Spring Tea. One of the things I like most about this shop (aside from the delicious food) are the few bits and pieces of Cath Kidston they stock. I can close my eyes and imagine I'm in a quiet English Village. Sort of like the one I imagine Lucy lives in.

Eye candy you've given us! Wish you were here for girls' night! Crochet lessons soon...
The mini is cute, and I love you NYB.
Cath Kidston eh, you need to come over here - I won't say any more, or you'll be so jealous xxx
ISn't that the truth! Those little scraps can sometimes be the most fun! I received a bunch of fabric and sewing stuff from my MIL. Many of the pieces were scraps from patterns she had made. I came across a teddy bear print that I thought would be perfect for a baby quilt, but I only had these odd pieces. Luckily I found a pattern where the main square was such a size that I would be able to cut them all from what I had! I was so excited!
I started pulling out fabrics to go with the bears...pulling most from scraps and some of the yardage my MIL had given me. I only had to buy the borders! I was so excited that when I finally went to bed at 1 a.m. that night-I couldn't sleep! I just wanted to get up and get sewing on that quilt! It is only my second top--It turned out cute! I will be donating it to the NICU our quilt guild supports.
That yumminess is why it is 'sew' hard to throw out scraps... no matter how small, LOL! I need to get some mini quilt made {or mug rugs} so I can work on my quilting. I tend to do the large quilts, and then get unhappy with the quality of my quilting... but haven't taken the time for praticing on smaller projects. That sure makes sense right?
Thanks for linking up with FiF, and I love that 1/4 round pieced block. More scrumptious scraps in that block! Have a fabulous weekend!

I think your husband is right. I love to make a big quilt but they take so long that I sometimes get discouraged before I'm done. I think minis are a great idea!
I love how you were able to "frame" the fishies like that. I also have a lot of great "focus fabrics" in scrap size... I think I'll try a mini of my own with one of those. Thanks for the inspiration!
The start of your New York Beauty looks great!!!
Such a cute mini! Love those fish! And your NYB block is a beauty!

I love your scrappy mini!!
Your mini looks great and I can see what the fish piece was the inspiration. SO cheerful.
That is one beautiful block, and I LoVE your mini quilt! The little fish print is just precious. :o)
That fish print inspired such a cute quilt. Especially because it is orange!
What a pretty mini quilt! I'd love to sign up for that NYB QAL, but I fear I won't be able to keep up at the moment!
Great mini!! I used tight straight-line quilting like yours this week for the first time and I love the texture it gives. It looks great on your Go Fish! mini. Thanks for linking up to TGIFF!
I love your vibrant colors! Cath Kidston in the USA-how wonderful...and a tea room-perfection!
Thank you for your kind words on my blog.
Love your go go fish and your your NYB looks fab!
I really like your New York Beauty. I may have to check into this some more. Minis are starting to sound really tempting to me. It's so expensive to have a huge quilt long arm quilted. Peggy
Beautiful! I'm with you, minis are just so much fun and instant gratification works for me! You have a smart husband!
