Sometimes it's nice to take a breather from work intensive blocks. I wanted to make an easy quilt with my Flora layer cake. Not sure what pattern to use, I googled "easy layer cake quilt." You need to know that I was a research librarian of sorts so I know all these neat tricks. (Please read humor into that). And I found this youtube video. Double Slice is a great pattern for new quilters and would even make a fast baby quilt if you used just half the layer cake. There are a few pesky fabrics in the Flora collection. Do you see the pops of orange and green? I had a heck of a time spacing them. And I'm not sure I succeeded. I'm going to border the quilt with solid white and bind it with just the right shade of blue. I'm hoping the binding will pull out the other colors in the quilt. I'll show it to you when it's quilted.
I don't know if anyone heard me squeal with delight when I discovered that Madame Parfait included two of my Solstice Stars in her Star Block Inspiration. They're the two blocks bottom and center.
And I would like to thank everyone who participated in my first giveaway. It was so much fun to read all the comments and to make new friends. Because that's what this is all about.

I like your choice and I think you did a great job of spacing the orange and green. Can't wait to see this finished.
Your quilt looks beautiful Deborah and your Star Blocks are lovely...I am not surprised they have been a source of inspiration!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend,
Susan x
Beautiful quilt, and it looks perfect next to that basket of flowers!
I think Madame Parfait is a block genius. And I'm not surprised that she was inspired by two of your beautiful blocks!
Love the quilt! And congratulations on being in the inspiration mosaic!!
What a fun quilt! It always seems like there are a couple colors in a charm pack/layer cake that don't work too well. Your 2 blocks are absolutely beautiful, I can see why she included them!
I couldn't agree more :)
Congratulations on being in the mosaic!
The quilt looks gorgeous and how beautiful staged, cute basket of flowers and the shelves of books make me smile!
I once lived in Boulder, CO for a short time and volunteered at the Native American Law Library - I've always harbored a secret desire to be a librarian... that or a Country and Western singer!! :)
Lovely quilt and picturesx
Congrats on being in the mosaic, Deborah! They are beautiful blocks so I'm not surprised. Thanks for linking up with TGIFF!
Love your stars! Thanks for joining tgiff!
It is nice to work on a "no-brainer" quilt design, we all need to have an easy to accomplish from time to time, and yours looks very nice indeed! I think the orange blends well, you know we are our own worst enemy in the critical department. (I have shared the Missouri Quilt Company's link many times to friends who needed a quick and successful design!) Congratulations on your stars of fame, so cool!
:-}pokey
I can't wait to see the quilt when it is finished!
I have been working on some granny squares quilts and I too plan the next project to be simple I have been slaving away for quite a while on this project and need something simple to ease me out.
